Annotation

Purpose: to analyze the current state of reclamation in the Krasnodar territory and identify problems whose solution will contribute to increasing the efficiency of agricultural land use and the stable functioning of the region’s reclamation complex. 

Materials and methods: annual technical reports of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Management “Kubanmeliovodkhoz”, the regulatory framework in the field of ecology, environmental engineering, water use, regulation of state policy in the field of agro-industrial complex of the Russian Federation and the Krasnodar Territory were used. 

Results. For further development of the reclamation complex in the Krasnodar Territory, it is necessary to reconstruct the reclamation facilities and put into operation about 27.6 thousand ha of reclaimed land. Another important area of development is improving the water availability and ecological condition of the region’s steppe rivers, and water quality for agricultural crops irrigation. Maintaining a state register of agricultural land and developing a road map will make it possible to manage the land resources of the region more effectively. The implementation schedule for the effective use of reclaimed lands will increase soil fertility. It is planned to involve 29.3 thousand ha of reclaimed land in irrigation in order to increase the agricultural production volume. Also, one of the important issues is carrying out measures to clean the Krasnodar reservoir from sediment and restoring its design parameters. 

Conclusions. Activities helping improve the efficiency of the reclamation complex in the Krasnodar territory were investigated. When carrying out measures to clear the steppe zone rivers in the area, it is possible to irrigate 27.6 thousand ha of land in the Upper and the Middle Kuban additionally. In the Lower Kuban, subject to the reconstruction of federal property reclamation facilities and the on-farm network of reclamation systems, agricultural producers can provide irrigation to about 13.0 thousand ha of reclaimed land.
