CURRENT STATUS AND MAIN TASKS FOR UPDATING REGULATORY PROVISIONS IN THE FIELD OF DESIGNING DRAINAGE ON IRRIGATED LANDS
- The role of land reclamation and water management in ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture
Purpose: to conduct ecodiagnostics of the natural-technical system of the small Podpol’naya River basin, located in the zone of agro-landscape, collector-drainage network and rural settlements influence.
Materials and methods. The integrated methodology of B. I. Kochurov, N. P. Karpenko, and the improved method of T. V. Ivankova were used. The Podpol’naya River basin was divided into 5 sections characterized by the same degree of landscape development. Within the catchment area of the river basin, there are no nature conservation or unused lands.
Results. Throughout the river basin, the natural protection coefficient (Kez) does not exceed 50 %, which indicates a high level of anthropogenic load on the water body. Kez has the lowest value in section 3 (0.23 or 23 %), which is associated with the combined impact of the discharge of collector-drainage water into the water body, surface runoff from saline soils, and an unsewered settlement. The first section, represented by arable dry lands and pastures, is characterized by a satisfactory environmental situation, the value of the basic attribute indicator is 15, which corresponds to a negligible environmental risk. The second, the fourth and the fifth sections of the basin are characterized by the values of this indicator of 26–28, which corresponds to an acceptable environmental risk and a conflict environmental situation. The third section is characterized by a tense environmental situation caused, first of all, by the polluted collector-drainage water discharge, the location of saline soils on the catchment area of the river section, as well as the influence of an unsewered settlement. This section is characterized by the maximum permissible environmental risk, the reduction of which can be achieved by implementing engineering and environmental protection measures.
Conclusion. The conducted assessments, analysis of the degree of anthropogenic load on the natural-technical system of the small Podpol’naya River basin showed that the river can be characterized as a catchment area with a predominantly conflicting environmental situation, and its section – the place of release of the collector-drainage water, as tense, requiring the adoption of management environmental protection measures.
