Purpose: to assess the efficiency of water distribution in 2023 in the reclamation systems of Stavropol Territory.

Materials and methods. The initial data for calculating the efficiency indicators of water distribution were obtained on the basis of reporting materials that contain information on the actual implementation of water use plans.

Results. The reclamation complex of Stavropol Territory includes 18 irrigation and water supply systems (IWS). The total design irrigation area is 600.1 thousand hectares. In 2023, 66.5 thousand hectares were irrigated. In addition to irrigation, water was supplied for drinking and domestic water supply, as well as water supply to production sites and the needs of the fisheries industry. Water was diverted to water management organizations in Rostov region, the Republic of Dagestan and Kalmykia. The total volume of water supplied in 2023 was 937.8 million cub. m. Losses during transportation amounted to 909.5 million cub. m, which is comparable with the volume of water transferred for the needs of water users. The assessment of the water distribution efficiency at the environmental protection systems of Stavropol Territory was performed on the basis of the following indicators: efficiency factor, water resources use factor, and water resources redistribution factor.

Conclusions. Of the 18 environmental protection systems, five did not take water. The Nevinnomyssk, the Rodnikovskaya and the Kumskaya environmental protection systems and the Bolshoy Stavropol Canal have high water distribution efficiency. It is recommended for them to implement supporting measures. The Pravo-Egorlykskaya, the Karanogayskaya, the Egorlykskaya and the Tersko-Kumskaya environmental protection systems require priority measures to improve the efficiency of water distribution. Measures to improve the efficiency of water use at the Sadovo-Zakumskaya, the Levokumskaya, the Prikumskaya, the Mezhdurechye Kuban-Egorlykskaya and the Plakseyskaya environmental protection systems should be planned only after achieving satisfactory efficiency indicators at the first two groups of systems.
