Purpose: to calculate the expected annual economic impact from the introduction of the developed method for determining water consumption in an irrigation system using modern software and hardware.
Materials and methods. The modern software and hardware for introducing the method for determining water consumption in irrigation open channels using the “slope-area” method is proposed. The essence of the developed method consists of using water level sensors equipped with means for remote level readings, located in specially designed upper and lower hydrometric sections, to determine water levels in the sections, the level difference between the upper and lower sections and calculate water consumption. To introduce the developed method, field tests using the example of creating a hydrometric post in an open channel, were carried out.
Results. A step-by-step calculation of the annual economic impact, which showed that the use of the developed method will reduce the water supply volume by 632.15 thousand cub. m per irrigation season, is performed.
Conclusions. The annual economic impact from the introduction of the developed method using modern software and hardware will be 913,859.6 rubles. When implementing the developed method, the payoff period will be 0.71 years.
