CURRENT STATUS AND MAIN TASKS FOR UPDATING REGULATORY PROVISIONS IN THE FIELD OF DESIGNING DRAINAGE ON IRRIGATED LANDS
- The role of land reclamation and water management in ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture
Purpose: development and research of facilities for irrigation water purification and the pumping-station advance chamber gratings cleaning from trash. The relevance of the development and research of these devices is shown.
Materials and methods. The research included studying the species composition of trash and its mass during the growing season at dead-end pumping station no. 4 of the Engels irrigation system, Saratov region. The studies included an assessment of the performance reliability of the facilities, the completeness of water intake grating cleaning and the degree of irrigation water purification from trash.
Results. Two maxima of trash accumulation on the water intake gratings of pumping stations were determined. The first maximum is observed in spring after the canal is filled with irrigation water. This trash is characterized by a large amount of last year's leaves, stems, tree branches, plastic bottles, etc. In the second period – the beginning of summer, the mass of trash is less, so the water is still cool and there is no rapid growth of algae. In the third period - mid and late summer, during hot weather there is a rapid growth of algae, duckweed, mud and whitebait in the canal. Here the second maximum of the trash mass on the gratings is observed. The improved conveyor-type treatment facilities, which can be equipped with scrapers or rakes to capture and lift trash into a receiver, located on the bridge, has been developed. The upper part of the frame has an L-shaped bend for more efficient dumping of trash into the receiver. For finer purification of irrigation water, mesh metal gratings with 10 × 10 mm cells are mounted between the conveyor bars.
Conclusions. Studies of the improved conveyor-type treatment facilities at the pumping-plant advance chamber have shown reliability in operation, made it possible to remove large trash such as branches, stems and long algae from the gratings, and also provided fine purification of irrigation water from fine trash.
