CURRENT STATUS AND MAIN TASKS FOR UPDATING REGULATORY PROVISIONS IN THE FIELD OF DESIGNING DRAINAGE ON IRRIGATED LANDS
- The role of land reclamation and water management in ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture
Purpose: to analyze hydrographic characteristics and study the conditions of formation and transformation of the maximum flow of the Laba River based on empirical data from gauging stations.
Materials and methods. The series of observations of annual maximum discharges at seven gauging stations (currently operating or previously operating) located in the Laba River basin were used. The morphological parameters of the watershed and the channel at the gauging stations are presented. The graphs of the dynamics of annual maximum water discharges at the gauging station section lines for different periods are analyzed.
Results. Based on the analysis of empirical observation data at seven gauging stations, it was found that the synchronicity of annual maximum discharges was recorded at three stations: Below the Asian Bridge, Burnoe and Doguzhiev. Repeated excess of maximum discharges at the Kaladzhinskaya gauging station over the resulting Doguzhiev section line was revealed. The maximum excess is about 200 m³/s. There is no synchronicity in the passage of maximum discharges along the main tributaries (Khodz, Chamlyk, Fars). It was found that in 1986 the maximum discharge on the Khodz River exceeded the discharge on the Laba River. The number of years with maximum discharges less than the average long-term value of the series exceeds the number of years with maximum water discharges greater than the average long-term value based on observations at all gauging stations. The ratio of these indicators is as follows: Burnoe gauging station – 62 and 38 %; Kaladzhinskaya gauging station – 53 and 47 %; Doguzhiev 67 and 33 %; Besleneevskaya gauging station – 67 and 33 %; Voznesenskaya gauging station – 72 and 28 %; Dondukovskaya gauging station – 59 and 41 %.
Conclusions. Chronology of annual maximum water discharges in the Laba River basin is characterized by a high degree of their variability. The assessment of the general dynamics of the studied parameter indicates an increase in the repeatability and values of maximum discharges in the resulting section line.
