Purpose: collection, processing and analysis of foreign and domestic experience in the field of coastal protection structures at reclamation facilities used for the purposes of coast stabilization and protection.

Discussion. The concept of “channel protection structure” aimed at protecting the bed, slopes, berms and other channel elements from the impact of water or influent water flow, sediments and transported objects is defined. These structures have limitations on their use, namely: they are exposed to water flow and wave phenomena (their above-water parts – slopes, berm and canal edge). This fact implies a decrease in the strength characteristics of the materials used in their construction. Based on the performed analysis, a generalized classification of coastal protection hydraulic structures which includes active and passive structures for protecting earth canal slopes from the impact of influent water flow has been developed.

Conclusions. The analysis of foreign and domestic experience, which indicates that the arrangement of coastal protection measures is possible with diverse assessments of all necessary factors, as well as in various design and technical solutions has been performed. In turn, to ensure their greatest efficiency, it is necessary to take into account both the natural conditions of the territory on which they will be located, and their arrangement taking into account modern technological solutions. When analyzing design solutions, it was revealed that coastal protection works are used to a greater extent at large hydraulic structures, marine and port facilities due to the negative impact of waves and water flow on coastal areas and earth slopes, which leads to their deformations and abrasive processes.
