Purpose: to assess the state and composition of machinery and mechanisms located at reclamation systems and used for maintenance and repair work on them.

Materials and methods. The study was conducted using data for 2024 obtained from 10 operating institutions subordinate to the Department of Land Reclamation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. The methods used were analysis, classification and comparison.

Results and discussion. As a result of the study, the state and composition of machinery and mechanisms at reclamation systems was assessed. The condition assessment showed how many machinery and mechanisms on the balance sheet of the operating organizations are operable. The percentage ratio between operating and non-operating states was determined. The composition assessment demonstrated what types of machines and mechanisms in working order are used now for maintenance and repair work at reclamation systems.

Conclusions. An assessment of the state of machinery and equipment in drainage systems revealed that the percentage of equipment in working order is 2–3 times higher than that inoperative, with the exception of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Rostovmeliovodkhoz Administration” and the Federal State Budgetary Institution “UETKG and ChV”, where this ratio is approximately equal. Also, at the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Ingushmeliovodkhoz Administration”, the percentage of inoperative equipment is 3 times higher than the percentage of operational equipment. An assessment of the composition of machinery and equipment in drainage systems in working order shows that the majority of machinery and equipment at the facilities consists of motor vehicles (passenger cars and trucks), tractors, and excavators. Mowers and mounted canal cleaners, necessary for weed removal, which is one of the main types of maintenance work, are presented in single units at only 5 of the 10 operating facilities.
