CURRENT STATUS AND MAIN TASKS FOR UPDATING REGULATORY PROVISIONS IN THE FIELD OF DESIGNING DRAINAGE ON IRRIGATED LANDS
- The role of land reclamation and water management in ensuring the sustainable development of agriculture
Purpose: to use various methods of obtaining primary data to determine the soil nutrients content and map their presence in the surveyed area.
Materials and methods. Three data collection methods are considered. The first method involves collecting soil samples using a sampler. The second method is based on the use of specialized sensors that determine the presence of soil nutrients. The third data obtaining method uses Earth remote sensing (ERS) technology.
Results. Using the methods applied, primary data were obtained and maps of the soil nutrient presence were drawn. A color palette representing the deviation of the amount of soil nutrients from their nominal value was used as legend on the maps. An individual map is drawn for each nutrient. The maps depict areas delimited by the presence of soil nutrients equal to or above the nominal value (colored green), below the nominal value by 10–15 % (colored yellow), below by 15–20 % (colored orange), below and above 25 % (colored red). The nominal value for total nitrogen content in the soil is 25 mg per 1 kg of soil, mobile phosphorus – 40 mg per 1 kg of soil, exchangeable potassium – 270 mg per 1 kg of soil.
Conclusions. The conducted research revealed that the generally accepted method of determining soil nutrients is labor-consuming (its use requires laboratory testing), but it is also the most accurate. The main disadvantage of using soil sensors is their high cost. In addition, the condition of the sensor itself and the elements in contact with the soil should be monitored. A method using UAV-mounted cameras, satellite maps, and remote sensing data demonstrates a difference of more than 20 % compared to the standard method.
